Issue #135 - “I Can Take Or Leave Your Loving” by Herman’s Hermits moves up from No. 9 to No. 5 on this week’s Boss 30. Where would it be next week? Gone.

It was one of four titles to exit the Boss 30 from the No. 5 position (the biggest fall off the survey). The others were “Since You’ve Been Gone” by Aretha Franklin, “I Could Never Love Another (After Loving You)” by the Temptations, and “Gitarzan” by Ray Stevens.

Issue #136 - “Love Is Blue” by Paul Mauriat sits atop the survey for the second week in a row. Sixty-five instrumentals charted on the Boss 30 from 1965-73 and eight of those went to No. 1.

Hard-luck Ronnie Dove has a Hitbound this week with “In Some Time.” He had five different titles appear as Hitbound on the printed surveys but never did make the Boss 30.

Issue #140 - The second edition of “Mr. Whisper” continues on Boss Radio. Joe DiMaggio was “Mr. Whisper” this time around.

The single-line survey disclaimer seen here lasted one week.

Issue #143 - The Delfonics can’t catch a break with “La-La Means I Love You” at No. 2. For the second consecutive week a song has leaped over it to No. 1. Last week it was “Young Girl” by the Union Gap and this week it's “Cry Like a Baby” by the Box Tops.

KHJ Boss 30 - April 3, 1968

Issue #144 - Boss Jock Bobby Tripp’s final appearance on the cover of the Boss 30. Despite being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease, he continued performing his duties at KHJ until he was physically unable to do so. Real name Michael Guerra, Jr., he died at the UCLA Medical Center on July 19, 1968.
