Issue #624 - June 21, 1977
Mason Dixon worked the early evening shift during part of 1977 after Dr. John Leader moved to the 9AM - Noon slot.
These surveys were an eight-panel design (8.5" x 13.5" folded twice). Besides the singles and LP charts, they also had artist bios, lyrics, and pictures of KHJ happenings. This design only lasted until the end of 1977.

I didn't realize that Michael Spears had re-done the look and format of the Thirty when he came down from KFRC to replace Van Dyke as PD.
Mason Dixon was an import from KCBQ, San Diego.
Michael Spears seemed to forget everything he knew when he programmed KHJ. Not a good sound. Not Mason's fault, but not really an LA vibe either. Spear's was programming to 8 year olds with his music mix.
