What I remember most about Johnny Williams is that he'd play the long versions of records on his overnight shift. It was the first time I'd heard the full version of "Light My Fire," and in fall 1968, he even played the 11-minute version of "Time Has Come Today" by the Chambers Brothers. And how is it I, a 10-year-old was hearing Williams' show in the first place? I used to go to bed with a transistor on under my pillow, and I'd often wake up during the night.

Survey erratum: "Eleanor Rigby" by Ray Charles has the record label listed as United Artists. It should be ABC.

Yes, Williams most certainly did play the long version of “Time” and that blew me away! Perhaps as a special treat, and the surprise factor was enormous.
