As was already mentioned, I too never heard about what happened to Bobby. And you say he worked right up close to the end, wow.

Do you remember if they mentioned what happened much at all after he passed, or was it "stick to the format" with maybe just a mention during 20/20 news?

Frank Terry guest starred for Bobby Tripp during the final few months but it was still treated as "The Bobby Tripp Show."

KHJ handled the situation with a relatively low profile. Apparently a few announcements were made regarding his passing the day it happened.

I remember lying on ZUMA Beach in So. Cal listening to KHJ 20/20 News when they announced his passing.

I recall the summer time when Bobby was out sick and Frank Terry would say it was the "Bobby Tripp Show" with Frank Terry sitting in. Then one day there was a solemn announcement on air that Bobby Tripp had passed. From then on the show was called the "Frank Terry Show." KHJ always honored Bobby Tripp with the public expectation he had a temporary illness and would be back. I'm sure they knew otherwise. But it was handled with class. We later read in the LA Times that Bobby had been dying for many months, knew it, and continued his show as long as he could.

I remember the day I heard that Bobby had died. I was just a girl of ten, but Bobby's show was always on when we were in the car, or at home. I was so sad when they made the announcement. Rest in peace forever, Bobby. I've never forgotten you.
