The Blue Ridge Rangers were really just John Fogerty, fresh from his breakup with Creedence Clearwater Revival.
I heard "Love Jones" about two weeks ago on one of those cable-music channels -- this one was all '70s music. As far as I know, this is where the phrase "I've got a Jones for ..." came from. At least, I'd never heard it before this song. Later this year, Cheech and Chong will spoof it with "Basketball Jones."
