The End of an Era

Issue #788 - October 21, 1980

Danny Martinez, in his second tour at KHJ, makes the cover of the final survey of the Top 40 era. The end comes fifteen-and-a-half years after it started with Boss Radio. KHJ jumps on the “Urban Cowboy” bandwagon and goes Country.

Although this survey says it’s No. 788, that’s a little misleading. Due to a number of reasons that are too much to detail here, the number of surveys actually issued to the public was closer to 771.
