Carly Simon had no idea when she wrote "Anticipation" that we'd eventually associate it with ketchup. I remember those commercials starting fairly soon after it was a hit.
There's a reason why Carly Simon allowed Heinz to use "Anticipation". With her marriage to James Taylor, she expected to put her recording/performing career on a back burner for a while, and the money from the rights was something she brought to the relationship...that James wouldn't be the sole support of the household. To put it in terms from another day, ketchup was her dowry.
