Every song that debuts this week is terrific, even the odd "Neanderthal Man."

Susan Jacks' great voice is on "That's Where I Went Wrong."

"We've Only Just Begun" is one of the Carpenters' best singles. It still sounds lovely.

"Rainbow" is a forgotten gem.

"Out in the Country" is, like "We've Only Just Begun," written by Paul Williams.

And of course, the Jackson 5 continue their incredible first year with their biggest hit, "I'll Be There."

I like just about every song on this Boss 30. I'm being reminded just how good a year for pop music 1970 was.

I agree that this survey is loaded with wonderful songs. Lots of variety.

"Neanderthal Man" is a perfect title for that song. It's quirky but I'm a sucker for just about anything with a beat. And who would've thought that you could have a hit song where the entire lyrics consist of:

I'm a Neanderthal man
You're a Neanderthal girl
Let's make Neanderthal love
In this Neanderthal world
