"Will You Be Staying After Sunday" is another forgotten classic. First, how great is a name like Peppermint Rainbow? But the song has a Spanky and Our Gang kind of sound, and it took decades before I could really make out all of the lyrics -- and even then there are a couple of place where I'm not sure. Gorgeous sound.

Seems like 1969 had a bunch of these forgotten nuggets. Great song.

Agree on the name. in fact the first (well, first recently, from the April 2, 1969 Real Don Steele aircheck) time I remember hearing that song and their name, I had to check to see if they were the same group that did the theme song to the Brady Bunch show the first year it was on (Another group did it the first year, then the Brady kids did it themselves after).

That group was called, curiously, "The Peppermint Trolley Company". No wonder I was confused. And both songs were sort of bubble-gummy as well, which I'm sure clouded the issue more as well.

Great times!

Agreed on 1969. Lots of overlooked gems that year, which we will be commenting on. I'm grateful that KHJ gave airplay to these songs, since most of them didn't do much nationally.

Ah, the Peppermint Trolley Company. That group charted on KHJ in 1968 with "Baby, You Come Rollin' Across My Mind." I never knew they did the first-season "Brady Bunch" theme song.

Survey erratum: "Run Away Child, Running Wild" by the Temptations has the record label listed as Motown. It should be Gordy.
