KHJ Boss 30 - February 19, 1969

Issue #190 - “Traces” by Classics IV makes a big jump from No. 10 to No. 1 on the Boss 30. “Indian Giver” by 1910 Fruitgum Co. will repeat the feat next week.

Classics IV only charted four titles on the Boss 30 but three of them went to No. 1. And all three had one-word titles.

"Games People Play" by Joe South starts to descend this week. I had really hoped it would reach No. 1. It has one of my favorite all-time song openings. When I hear that twangy guitar I instinctively reach for the volume knob to turn it up.

I forget what that kind of guitar is called. Sort of sitar-like. It's the same instrument on "Hooked on a Feeling" and "Cry Like a Baby," I think.

I remember being surprised that I could hear the word "hell" in "Games People Play" as well as the implied "damn."

Does anyone "really" believe that Johnny Williams, who had been there since DAY ONE, is just getting his "first full weekend" off. Too funny. :]
