I just loved "In the Year 2525" when I was 11, but wow -- it's still one of the oddest big hits to ever chart. Listening to it today I'm all the more amazed that it was such a smash. It's SO cynical.

I loved "In the Year 2525" back then and still do today. Sort of a futuristic "Eve of Destruction" tone.

It was like science fiction had come to the pop charts. I always fixated on "in the year 5555, your arms are hanging limp at your side, your legs got nothing to do, some machine doin' that for you." Made me think the future was something to fear.

Something else of note this week: only one Hitbound.
