KHJ Thirty - June 20, 1972

Issue #364 - Cat Simon makes his first appearance on the cover of the survey. He came from WRKO in Boston where his air name had been “Johnny Williams.” Since KHJ already had a Johnny Williams, he changed it to Cat Simon. He moved into the 9PM - Midnight slot that had been slated for Jimmy Rabbitt.

"Alone Again (Naturally)" would go on to be a massive hit both on KHJ and nationally. And while I liked it a lot, it's still to me one of the most unlikely monster hits. It's downright depressing, BUT it such a happy little tune. O'Sullivan certainly was an interesting bloke.
